Heisman Watch Week 5

We're still in catchup mode, so let's get started.

Before we get to the top ten, let's shoutout our honorable mentions: Chuba Hubbard, DeVonta Smith, Chase Young, and CeeDee Lamb.

10. D'Andre Swift, Georgia (Last Week: 10)- Swift & the Georgia Bulldogs were on a bye in Week 5.

9. Travis Etienne, Clemson (Last Week: 8)- Etienne's Heisman campaign has slowly dwindled over the few weeks, and a big performance over North Carolina would have really helped his odds. Unfortunately, Etienne only ran for 67 yards (though he did score) and his Heisman chances are now incredibly slim.

8. J.K. Dobbins, Ohio State (Last Week: 9)- Though he didn't score in Week 5, Dobbins did run for 177 yards on 24 carries as the Buckeyes rolled Nebraska.

7. Trevor Lawrence, Clemson (Last Week: 7)- At the start of the season, I was sure that Lawrence would at the very least, be a Heisman finalist. Now, he might not even finish the season in my top ten. He should have had a big game against UNC, but he only completed 18 of his 30 passes as Clemson narrowly escaped with the win.

6. Sam Ehlinger, Texas (Last Week: 6)- Texas was on a bye this week.

5. Justin Fields, Ohio State (Last Week: 5)- Fields continues to put up video game numbers on a weekly basis. In Ohio State's conference win against Nebraska, Fields threw for three scores and 212 yards while running for 72 yards and another score on 12 carries.

4. Jonathan Taylor, Wisconsin (Last Week: 4)- Taylor continues to showcase himself as the best running back in the nation. Against Northwestern, Taylor ran for 119 yards and one touchdown on 26 carries.

3. Joe Burrow, LSU (Last Week: 3)- Thankfully for Tua, Burrow did not play in Week 5.

2. Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama (Last Week: 2)- Tagovailoa was his usual brilliant self in Alabama's systematic beatdown of Ole Miss. In terms of passing, Tua went 26 of 36 for six scores and zero picks. In terms of running, he carried the ball four times and added another score.

1. Jalen Hurts, Oklahoma (Last Week: 1)- Oklahoma continued their march to another CFP berth by stomping Texas Tech at home. Hurts had a total of four touchdowns and 485 yards of combined offense. Is it any wonder he's still our Heisman front-runner?

Thanks for reading everyone.
